      --- Dau of Henry Goff & Sally based on research by Phil Goff http://home.comcast.net/~philgoff/GoffBook.htm Ed Goff tells me that the 1850 and 1860 census records above are the family of James Henry Goff and Sarah Long, who married in Scott Co., KY in 1835.
      -A family record written by Ruth Murphy, granddaughter of Asalee, shows that Asalee's parents were Jim Goff and Sallie Farrar. "Jim Goff" certainly matches "James Henry Goff" and "Sallie" is a nickname for "Sarah." While Sarah's surname of Long does not match Farrar, everything else matches. -Note that the corresponding entry for the 1860 Isabelle Goff is "A. Goff" in 1850 and that she was female. I've seen so many botched names in census records that I don't think it is a stretch to believe that the census taker wrote down "Isabelle" rather than "Asalee" or "Azilee."
      -To help connect the 1860 and 1870 census record, bear in mind that Saltillo and Decaturville are 25 miles apart.
      -One of Asalee's daughters was married in Saltillo, TN -JL and Asalee owned land next to Corinth Church in 1891 when Lewis Goff donated the land for the church cemetery. Ed Goff's ancestor, Lewis Goff, was buried in that cemetery in 1894. I think this geographic relationship supports my theory that Asalee was a daughter of James Henry Goff and Ed's theory that James Henry Goff was a brother of Lewis Goff. -Has anyone checked the Corinth Church to see if they have a record of the married of J. Leonard Creasy and Asalee Goff? While the above is not solid proof, I tend to think that where there is smoke, there is fire. Feel free to correspond with each other, but please let me know if you find any breakthroughs. 1870: age 33 (not 36), equating to a birth year of c1837 1920: age 74, equating to a birth year of c1846
