      Mrs. Ruth Evelyn Burch was born October 11, 1915, departed this life at 3:15 a.m. November 12, 1949 at the age of 34 years, 1 month, 1 day. She was the youngest of 12 children, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. W.T. Sipes of Garrett. She was married to Romey Burch September 17, 1934. To this union was born four sons, one whom preceded her in death in 1938. She is survived by her husband and three sons, Joseph Preston, Howard Thomas, and Helm Byron; her parents, nine brothers, Charlie, Roy, Jake, Reece, Richard, Lynn Joe and Boyd, all of Meade County; Byron of Louisville; two sisters, Mrs. Jack Catinna and Mrs. Fred Klotter, also of Louisville; a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 14th at 9 a.m. from St. Martin’s Church. Interment in the church cemetery. Ruth Evelyn or “Dupesy” as she was better known, spent 14 weeks in St. Anthony Hospital in Louisville, a victim of that dreaded disease, leukemia. Even though her suffering was great, she still maintained her smile and cheerful disposition, which was characteristic throughout her life. “Dupesy” was a devoted companion, and loving mother and loved by all who knew her.
