I descend from George Emery Goff born January 8, 1769, in Loudoun Co., VA, the only child of John Goff and Rachel Emery. He married Mary Frost on 21 Feb 1792 at Rowan Co., NC. By 1806, George E. and Mary Goff were living in Washington Co., VA. They had seven sons and four daughters. Mary Goff died on 23 Nov 1839. George E. Goff then married Elizabeth Williams on February 9, 1846, in Washington Co., VA. He died on June 28, 1852, in Washington Co., VA. George Emery Goff's father, John Goff, was born about 1750 in England or VA. This John Goff is also thought to be the child of another John Gough/Goff, who was born abt. 1720 in England, perhaps Yorkshire. This information came to me from a Goff cousin, who claims she saw the two John Goffs listed in a "Stoner family bible" about 30 years ago. John Goff married Rachel Emery, daughter of Stephen Emery, a blacksmith, and Elizabeth Cooper. Rachel was born abt. 1754 in Berkeley Co., VA. John and Rachel Goff had only one known child together, George Emery Goff. John Goff died abt. 1784 in Loudoun Co., VA, at the age of 34. Rachel Goff then married James Byrne, a merchant in Loudoun Co., VA.
