This obit from the 1920 Lawrence County, Arkansas newspaper "The Imboden Journal" is of no relation to me. Article titled (quote) "Aged Citizen Passes Away"
Last Saturday morning the many friends of "Uncle" Prior Goff were shocked to learn of his sudden death from heart failure which had occured a few hours before. His health had been greatly impaired for several weeks, yet he was able to come to town almost daily, and passed Friday afternoon, with friends at the stores. Mr. Goff was 76 years old and had been a resident of this part of the county and Imboden since the civil war, locating near Annieville after four years service in the Confederate army. He was a good citizen; honest and true to his friends and respected by all who knew him.
Funeral services and burial took place Monday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. H. L. Wheeler and Rev. J. W. Wade in the presence of many sorrowing relatives and friends.
His aged wife and six children survive him. The children are R.E. and Will Goff of Tioga, La.; J. J. Goff of Summitt, Ga,; Mrs. Homer Young of Olney, Okla.; Mrs. A. T. Wilson and Mrs. H. R. Bowers of this place. All the children were present at the funeral except J. J. Goff who could not come.
