      Henry (Hank) O'Bryan Burch, Sr., of Little Rock, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at St. Vincent Hospital. The son of Alyne O'Bryan and Phillip Holley Burch, Sr., Henry was born May 15, 1928 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. As a child Henry grew to love the Barren River which began a lifelong love of all waterways.

      Survivors include Patricia, his loving wife of 55 years; children Anne Kennedy (Doug), Henry Burch, Jr. (Rosemary) of Little Rock, Dan Burch (Kelly) of Alexander, Arkansas and Julie Dunn (Mike) of Indianapolis; grandchildren Allison Kennedy, Pierce Martin, Lindsey and Alexis Burch, Gabrielle and Monica Dunn.

      He attended Western Kentucky University and graduated with honors from Purdue University in 1950 with a degree in Civil Engineering. While at Purdue, Henry was active in Tau Beta Pi, Chi Epsilon Honorary Societies and Delta Chi fraternity. Henry never lost his thirst for knowledge and learning and took classes at Ivy Tech as late as the Spring of 2007. After graduation from Purdue, he entered the United States Army where he taught artillery sound and flash as a civil mechanic engineer research assistant. Henry's professional career started with the Traylor Brothers and Roy Ryan & Sons firms of Evansville, Indiana; however his interest soon turned toward running his own businesses. Henry was an eternal entrepreneur owning companies that included Tiger Trash, Gerard Construction and his beloved authentic paddle wheel riverboat, "The Spirit of Evansville" which he later moved to Arkansas as "The Spirit". Henry was a Registered Professional Engineer in five (5) states and remained a consultant for his son's O'Bryan Engineering firm throughout his retirement.

      Henry led an incredible life with a wide array of interests including commercial salvage scuba diving, fishing, boat building, licensed private airplane pilot, riverboat pilot, a civil war enthusiast and a lover of all outdoor activities. He was on numerous boards including Arkansas Hospitality Assoc, North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce and was active in many civic and community projects.

      During his retirement years, he utilized his energies with a spirit of compassion towards helping those in need, including delivering meals to patients, and transporting patients to office appointments for Life Quest.

      The family would like to extend special gratitude to Dr. Fernando Padilla who helped Hank live his life to the fullest until the very end. Also special thanks to the 7th floor Oncology Unit staff at St. Vincent Hospital for their unwavering care and also to all of the prayer groups that helped support the family.

      Mass of Christian Burial to be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Monsignor Francis I. Malone celebrating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home (501)224-8300, followed by a Rosary Service.

      Interment will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, Owensboro, Kentucky, followed by a luncheon at the Moonlight Inn.
