  • Notes
    • This is probably not Dora, but Arba - the dates match to her tombstone. Decatur County Herald* June 29, 1906 Chalk, Dora A Terrible Accident: Miss Dora Chalk daughter of W. H. Chalk, aged 13 years, happened to an accident last Saturday at her home in Sardis that caused her death. She and a brother, younger than herself, were in the yard shooting and the boy went into the house to get the gun wiper and while he was there, the gun by some unknown means went off shooting the girl in the temple from which she died in about thirty minutes. Her mother had gone visiting and her father was off at work and the news of her sudden death was indeed a terrible shock to them. She was buried at the Sardis cemetery.
