Notes - Crossing the Dark River; Henderson County, Tennessee, Obituaries; 1827-1950 p. 299 GOFF, A.L. (The Lexington Progress, February 28, 1930) A. L. Goff, aged 68, a prominent business man of Bells, Crockett County, died in his home in that town February 17th. Mr. Goff was born in Hardin County but spent most of his life in Henderson County, until 16 years ago, when he moved to Bells from Jackson. Mr. Goff was married 44 years ago to Miss Lizzie Fanning, daughter of the late Alfred Fanning, and of the five children born to the union, three survive: Mrs. W. W. Hay and Mrs. L. S. Austin of Lexington, and Mrs. C. M. Nunn of Bells. During his business career of sixteen years in Bells Mr. Goff established a name for honor and honesty, in unison with his disposition toward charity that would not let him turn a deaf ear to those in need or distressthe richest possible heritage he could possibly leave to his children. The daughters who live in Lexington were present when the end came.
