Notes - There's a Singleton, Martha Jane, June 3, 1842-Nov. 22, 1871, "Wife of J. P. Singleton" buried in Sardis Cem http://www.tngenweb.org/records/henderson/cemeteries/sardis.htm
Same place Margaret GOFF's sister Amanda GOFF CLIMER and brother Louis F. GOFF are buried. It is likely that Martha Jane is Margaret. (names looks good, read as M.I. in father's census but could have easily been M.J., birthdate is good but death date seems a problem - who is the Sarah M. in the 1880 census with James P. SINGLETON? Was Margaret GOFF wife #1, Sarah M. #2 & Amanda ROBINS #3? If Margaret died 1871, she could have died giving birth to James S, except according to the 1880 census his mother was b.TN so it's more likely that Sarah M. was his mother NO: Robert's info is same, says mother b. TN Would have had to remarry Sarah M. between 1871-1876 in time for birth of dau. Martha. LOOK FOR MARRIAGE OF JAMES & SARAH IN HENDERSON/DECATUR COUNTIES). FIND SINGLETON 1870 CENSUS (below). So, it's possible that James P. SINGLETON married #1 Margaret GOFF, #2 Sarah M. & #3 Amanda ROBINS but need more info on Sarah M. to prove it. James P. SINGLETON's wife in the 1870 census is Martha J. so it's LIKELY that the Martha Jane SINGLETON buried in Sardis is the d/o Henry. NOTE that Margaret GOFF is b. KY (1850 Ballard census of father & 1870 census w/husband). Sarah M. in 1880 census with SINGLETON is b. TN ca 1847). Robert would be Margaret/Martha's son and it's just an error in the 1880 census that says she was b. TN. James could be either wife's son.
