I think Clare, widow of Stephen Gough, was born Clare Cissell and that she was the daughter of William Cissell (d. 1744). She married first, Stephen Gough; second, Thomas Price; and third ____Batson. Her father's will calls her Clare Barton, but I think this is an error and it should be Batson.

I think that Charles Gough was a posthumous child of Stephen Gough and Clare Cissell AND I think he was the ONLY child that Stephen Gough had by Clare.

We have no proof, that I'm aware of, that Mary Tattershall died in 1677. We know she was sick, but who says she died? Given the time this occurred, she was probably close to giving birth to James Gough.
