Notes - Jeanette (Clements) Bates, 89, of Evansville, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017, at the Linda E. White Hospice House.
Jeanette was born on March 11, 1928, in Evansville, to the late John R. and M. Camilla (Greenwell) Clements. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Jeanette enjoyed reading, gardening, making homemade candy, quilting and working crossword puzzles.
Surviving Jeanette are five daughters, Patricia Antey, of Evansville, Faye Colborn, of Lakeland, Fla., Susan (Dan) Belcher, of San Antonio, Texas, Becky (Jim) Leithliter, of Carmi, Ill., and Mary C. (Randy) Scheller, of Evansville; two sons, Darrel A. (Pam) Bates, of Evansville, and John (Jill) Bates, of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; three sisters, Gladys Ehrhardt, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Connie (Arnold) Bosse and Mary Gail Bender, both of Evansville; a brother, Donald Clements, of Evansville; three sisters-in-law, Judy Clements, Coletta Clements and Connie Gamel; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Darrel Bates in 2011; by two brothers, Kenneth and John R. "Bud" Clements; and by a great-granddaughter, Haley Green.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rev. Anthony Govind officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 until 7 p.m. on Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, where there will be a memorial service conducted at 6 p.m.
