Sharp County Record Thrusday April 23, 1885

There is one of the strangest young men in this section of country we ever heard of. George Gawf, a son of Washington Gawf, about twenty-five years of age, has never spoken a single word to his father and mother. He assigns to reason for his strange action. He treats his parents courteiously otherwise and his deportment toward other people is not the least objectionable.

      J L Gawf shows up on petit jury list, April 1887;
John L. member of Washington township committee 1887 - also 1888
J.L. and W.G signed as witnesses for a homestead claim for Hiram Brandon 1887
J.L election judge, Washington twp. 1888
W.G. Gawf - delinquet tax list May 1885
W.G Gawf new subscription to Sharp Co. Record

Commissioner's Sale: W.G. Gawf is plaintiff and Lucy Gawf, Prior Gawf, Andrew Gawf, S.A.E. Gawf, N.E.E. Gawf, James E. Gawf and Rachael Gawf are defendents.
Sale is Monday Nov. 2, 1891. Property: S hf of the SE qr section 19 township 16 north, range 4 West, containing 80 acres more or less...D>L> King, Clerk

      S.B Gawf petit jury 1891
      W.W. Gawf petit jury 1891
William Gawf 21 to Linda Tindel 19 from list of marriage licenses issued in Sharp Co. 1889....no dates given this is is listed in middle of list so probably was in summer months.

I did not find any entries under Goff

Not knowing what Margaret Carpenter's husband's name was I found these Carpenters..

Mrs. J.P. Carpenter living near Maxville has been very ill for the past week, but is now on the road to recovery. May 31, 1888 (maybe this is your lady)

Sept 1888 annual settlement F.L. Carpenter, guardian Ambrose Williford minors.
      Mar 1888 A.B Vance 31 to I.B. Carpenter 16 marriage

      July 1887 Mites from Maxville.
Joseph Carpenter and Miss Sarah Shirley mounted the matrimonial omnibus last Sunday. Rev. Wm. Johnson, officiating
(Marriage licenses; J.R. Carpenter 18 to Miss Sarah Shirley 17)

This is all I found in the three books I have. Hope there is a clue here that will help you. Happy Huntin' DeMona
