Sharp County Record Thrusday April 23, 1885
There is one of the strangest young men in this section of country we ever heard of. George Gawf, a son of Washington Gawf, about twenty-five years of age, has never spoken a single word to his father and mother. He assigns to reason for his strange action. He treats his parents courteiously otherwise and his deportment toward other people is not the least objectionable.
J L Gawf shows up on petit jury list, April 1887;
John L. member of Washington township committee 1887 - also 1888
J.L. and W.G signed as witnesses for a homestead claim for Hiram Brandon 1887
