>It is my belief that Anastasia, wife of Nicholas Mills, was Anastasia Gough, dau. of Stephen Gough and his wife, Mary Norris, both of whom died in 1743. Stephen Gough had inherited "Gough's Levels" from his father, James Gough (d. 1725) and devised this property to his son, Ignatius in his 1743 will along with "Gough's Conveniency". The last record I have of Ignatius is 1745, so I would guess that he died and Anastasia inherited the land. Nicholas Mills in his 1785 will devised these two pieces of property, previously owned by Stephen Gough, to his son, Ignatius Mills: "Gough's Level," 42 acres; "Gough's Conveniency," 48 acres.

You have the correct Nicholas Mills (1735-1785). He married first, Anastasia Gough between 1755 and 1757. Anastasia died in 1771. He married second, Winifred Van Reswick (who had been married first to Philip Greenwell who d. 1774) on 10/15/1775. All of the children of this Nicholas Mills were by Anastasia Gough--none by Winifred Van Reswick. Linda Reno
