Notes - E-mail from James Ed Goff, 6/5/2005 Brother Earl called and said he had called to check on Ewing who is not doing well. They told him that Marie Townsell had driven up from Corinth to visit Ewing. She told them an interesting story that I do not remember but I was only 10 at the time so that is understandable. When Marie was 8 years old her mother was having a hard time and put Marie on a train without any money and told her that when she got to Jackson she was to go to downtown (at least a mile from the train station) courtsquare and look for Mr. Elzie Goff (my father) and he would get her to our house. She made the trip OK and lived with us for some time. As I say I do not remember it. I remember when we were about high school age they lived across the street from us.
(from later discussion with Marie - her parents were in jail for bootlegging. MEP)
