    • Mike, I saw your query and would like to ask you a a question. Is your Mary and Charles Gough the parents of a Mary Gough born about 1801 in Kentucky? She married John Shircliff, b. 8-6-1788 in MD and together they had 11 children? If so, could we compare information? I am on the Shircliff side of the family. Thanks, Pat Smith

      I have pic of sally gough gibson's headstone and her obit.... will scan this weekend and get it to you... the third wife of john shircliff was mary gough (he did not have much luck with wives) and it looks like she died in 1847.. he was born in 1788 and she in 1805... I am trying to locate their headstones/sites and since it looks like she died in 1847, there will be no obit...it also looks like ignatius had a dau lary ann 1842-1845 buried at st peters...

I was accepted into the SAR because of the service and Oath of Allegiance given by Thomas Shircliff, who's son, John, married Mary Gough, daughter of Charles. Mary Gough Shircliff was still alive as of Oct. 22, 1883 as evidenced by a letter written on Mary's behalf by W.H. Drapier, stenographer, requesting $3000 due her from the Federal Gov't. because of the service of John, her late husband, in the War of 1812. As you may know, Mary, because of an Act of Congress dated Feb. 25, 1865, was awarded a monthly pension of $8 a month during her widowhood. If you are interested in documentation of the aforementioned, please let me know.
