"Mrs. Sarah Gibson in the 85th year of her age died at Hillside,Loogootee...She was a firm member of the Catholic church and her practice as well as her lively faith were worthy of our highest commendation as well as our endeavors to imitate her many virtures especially charity in defendent the absunt and zeal and earnestness for the one thing necessary - the salvation of the soul. She was one of the first settlers of this part of Indiana (from Kentucky) and leaves many, many friends; in fact, we can safely say she had not an enemy...She was as calm, happy and peaceful looking a corpse as we have ever seen and we hope and believe she had merited to hear from her Judge those consoling words - come ye blessed of my Father and possess the kingdom prepared for you." Jan 24, 1874, "Davies County Democrat"
