She signed it Elender Howard which was misunderstood to be Ellen Derkward!"
Nelson County, KY. 8/19/1833: There appeared before a justice of the peace, Ann Gough Howard, age 90, and Susan Gough Montgomery, age 80, who swore that they were the sisters of Ignatius Gough and recall that sometimes in 1776 at the beginning of the War, Ignatius enlisted. Sometime in Spring fo 1778, he returned home sick and had been discharged. "We recollect that he was frequently called for duties during the wars afterward." Gough History; Thomas Morton Gough, September 18, 1969.
Ann Gough (Howard) had a sister Susanna Gough who married twice, her 2nd husband was Edward Montgomery. Linda Reno
s far as I can see, it was Edward Montgomery who was married twice, not Susanna Gough. Susanna's name given as Gough below:
Edward Montgomery, ml. 10/12/1793, Susanna Gough, Washington Co., KY (CD #229, FTM).
"Edward Montgomery and James Camron filed bond for the marriage of Edward Montgomery to Susanna Gough. Consent was given by her father."
Shouldn't the above statement read "Edward Montgomery and James Cambron filed bond for the marriage of Edward Montgomery to Susanna Cambron (not Gough). Consent was given by her father no her mother, Eleanor Bowles Gough Howard). She signed it Elender Howard which was misunderstood to be Ellen Derkward!"
Just clarifying.
Linda, look at the bond online at url below and see what you think. I think it will explain the statement above.

Nelson Co Marriage Book
Edward Montgomery & Susannah Cambron B: 24 Nov 1788 M: 24 Nov 1788 Signed Bond: Henry Cambron Consent Filed with Bond: John Baptist Cambron, father of Susannah Married by Charles Whelan, from Minister Return
It appears Edward Mongomery married Susannah Cambron 11/24/1788 and then married Susanna Gough on or about 10/12/1793.
Thanks, Betty
