      Donald Lee Hardesty, 82, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

      Donald was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 6, 1933 to the late Martha Vera (Kaster) and Marvin Leander Hardesty, Sr. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War for four year as a Meteorologist on Shemya Island in the Aleutians. He was the owner and operator of Hardesty Welding Supplies. Donald was a member of Rolling Hills Country Club since 1962. He loved to play golf and shot his age over 130 times from the regular men's tees, the most recent of which was shooting 79 at age eighty. Donald was proud to have seven holes-in-one at Rolling Hills, Christmas Lake, Oak Meadow, and at Ledgestone Country Club in Branson, MO. He was a member of the Presidents Club at the University of Evansville, and a member of The Ace in the Hole Club at UE where granddaughter Dana recently played for the UE Golf Team. He was a UE Basketball season ticket holder annually since 1958. Donald was also an excellent artist, bowler, tennis player, and was an avid fisherman. Donald and Irma enjoyed spending time at their weekend home in Christmas Lake Village, playing golf and boating with their family.
      Donald is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irma (Hedinger) Hardesty; daughter, Dona Hardesty (Daniel) Hayden; granddaughter, Dana Leanne; and sister-in-law, Grace Hedinger. Also surviving are sister, Barbara Perkins; brother, Marvin Hardesty, Jr.; sister-in-law, Helen Hardesty; brother-in-law, Tony Neumann; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
      In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by mother and father-in-law, Irene and Albert Hedinger; brother, Robert "Dusty" Hardesty; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bill Perkins, Jean Hardesty, Winona and Carman Thomas, Mae and Bill Risley, and Dot Neumann.
      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Church Cemetery in the village of St. Anthony, Indiana, where members of Irma's family have been buried since the 1800's. Father Michael Madden will conduct the graveside committal service.
      Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711 where the Retired Veteran Memorial Club will conduct military rites at 2:30 PM. Friends may also visit from 10:30 AM until Mass time at St. Benedict Cathedral on Friday.
