      MR. JOHN R. LANCASTER SR. FINALLY PASSES AWAY - HE WAS ONE OF THE OLDEST CITIZENS AND LEFT A LARGE FAMILY
      Mr. J. R. Lancaster, Sr., died of paralysis, superinduced by old age, at his home on South Locust Street Sunday morning at 9:30 o'clock and was buried yesterday at 9 a.m. Mr. Lancaster was one of the oldest citizens of Owensboro having come here in 1834. He was 83 years old. He was a native of Marion County. He was the father of eleven children, ten of whom are living. They are Mrs. Frank Pottinger, of Chicago; Mrs. Kate Clements, of Walnut, Kansas; W.H. Lancaster of Spokane, Washington; Sam T. Lancaster, R. J. Lancaster and Miss Alice Lancaster, of this city; F. M. Lancaster, of Louisville, Mrs. Emma Pope, Mrs. Rose Berry and Patrick Lancaster of this county. Mr. Lancaster was known all over a wide scope of country and was highly respected throughout his life. The following gentlemen were the pall bearers: Shelby Hicks, Ike Sutherland, Miles Mattingly, Wilfred Cario, W. H. Clark, Robt. Nunn, James Wilhite, James C. Rudd and Sim Mullican.
