    • Her mother, Elizabeth, is living with them in the 1860 census. .she lived with them . ( all her life) even after Thomas died during the civil war, and Rebecca re-married to Mathew HORN, you find Elizabeth Clemmons /Cements in the household. Ginny Lee 1870 Piney Fork, Sharp Co., AR (next page is her brother J.H. CARPENTER) HORN, Matthew 38 farmer $300/$100 TN Rebecca A 30 TN James 4 AR Francis 10 AR (this is the dau of Thomas CARPENTER who died in the War) Missouri 2 AR ? Mary 68 housekeeping NC Horn, Mathew b. 1830-36 TN Author: Iris Horne Date: 12 Apr 2006 3:58 AM GMT Looking for information on Mathew or Matthew Horn or Horne born to Henry Horn and Elizabeth Brien in TN about 1830-36. He first married Martha Chamberlain and later married Rebecca (nee Clem or Clements) Carpenter in 1865 Lawrence Co, AR. (Rebecca was a widow of Thomas Carpenter.) Rebecca and Thomas Carpenter had Frances b. 1860 AR and then Mathew and Rebecca had James Perry Horn b. 1867 Sharp Co., AR (married first ?; married second: Fannie nee Smith Derryberry in Chant (McCurtain) in Haskell Co., OK 1907), Missouri Jane Horn b. 1868 Sharp Co., AR (married James Robnett), Martha Horn b. 1870 AR, and Henry Horn b. 1879 AR, probably Hackett area of Sebastian Co. Mathew was a United Methodist Episcopal Church South minister in Sharp County, AR and moved to the Hackett area after the census in 1870. He lived on Bethel Road just north of Hackett in 1887. He died in 1889. I have not been able to find church records of him or records of his family members except for an obituary from the Arkansas Methodist Newspaper that did not list his family members. I cannot find him in the 1880 census. He may have been in the Indian Territory as the land on Bethel Road was just about a mile east of the state line between I.T. and AR. However, I checked the 1880 census page by page and found his neighbors listed, but not him. The neighbors were the ones on the 1887 land atlas of Center Twp. Sebastian Co. This atlas listed all the landowners in 1887. Mathew had a sister named Jane Horn who married Thomas Barber. I believe Thomas died fairly early, before 1860. She and her childrenis are living with Mathew on the 1860 census in Fulton Co., AR. I would appreciate any help with finding more about this family.
