    • James Manning, 83, passed away at Amber Manor in Petersburg, Monday July9, 2018, surrounded by his wife and family. He was born on May 20, 1935 in Breckinridge County, KY to Ernest and Margaret (Masterson) Manning.

      He was a US Army Veteran, 57 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181 and served as Business Manager from 1994 until his retirement in 2005. He also served the Tri-State region in many capacities including serving as Vanderburgh County Councilman, was a lifetime member and post commander of the VFW in Petersburg, and member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 427 of Evansville. As well as a member of the American Legion Post 044 and Moose Lodge in Petersburg.

      He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Pansy (French) Manning; children, Debbie (Brett) Doerner, Steve (Kathy) Manning, Keith (Lana) Manning, Vickie (Rick) Hutchinson, and Wayne (Leslie) Manning.

      He was a proud Papaw of 15 grandchildren, Chris (Jacki) Doerner, Justin (Jayce) Manning, Korey Manning, Brittney (Ben) Overfield, Brook (Kaleb) Nossett, Chelsea Potts, Heather (John) Avery, Brick (Kenzee) Hutchinson, Colton Doerner, Jamie (Jeff) Nossett, Hunter (Lindsey) Manning, Forrest Manning, Kendra Manning, Bryce Manning, Nick Manning; 19 great grandchildren, Spencer, Christopher, Tori, Kaiden, Weston, Wyatt, Owen, Bella, Bowen, Gunner, Raelyn, Ava, Jada, River, Cooper, Sadie, Daxen, Kimber, Jensen, and five more on the way.

      Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, July 14, at the St Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg, IN. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM on Friday, July 13, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.

      The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Amber Manor and Heart to Heart Hospice for their kind and compassionate care the their husband, father, and grandfather.
