  KENTUCKY STANDARD OBITUARY ­ 09/06/1956 MRS. HAYDEN, 72, DIES, FUNERAL AT ST. GREGORY'S Mrs. Mary Bernard Hayden, 72, widow of Byron Hayden, of Samuels, died Saturday afternoon, September 1, [1956] after an illness of four years. Mrs. Hayden was the daughter of the late Marion Mattingly, of Samuels. She was born, reared and spent all her life there. Her husband died in 1923. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Johnson, New Haven; a son, Joseph B. Hayden, member of the firm of Jewell & Hayden, Bardstown; 13 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Marie Roby, Louisville; and two brothers, Tom Mattingly, Louisville; and Joe Mattingly, Indianapolis, IN. The body was at the Mann, Greenwell & Arnold Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Gregory's Church, Samuels, Rev. John Bancroft officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bardstown. Pallbearers were Bernard Roby and Joseph M. Sapp, Louisville; James Mackin, Joe Hayden Johnson, T.W. Spalding and C.G. Bean.
