    • Stephen Mattingly died at St. Catherine's Village in Madison, Mississippi, at the age of 93.
      Born in Vicksburg, he was the son of the late Walter Louis Mattingly and Anna Treanor Mattingly. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius College, now St. Aloysius High School. Mr. Mattingly was employed by the Vicksburg District, Mississippi River Commission and retired from Waterways Experiment Station in 1977 as a senior engineering technician with more than 34 years of service.
      He was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church while living in Vicksburg and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church while in Madison. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus, Vicksburg Council 898, for the past 69 years.
      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cornelia Avery Mattingly; and a brother, John Mattingly.
