(Washington Co. Ky Will Book D p 300) IGNATIUS3 MILLS (NICHOLAS2, NICHOLAS1) was born November 16, 1758 in Maryland, and died 1827 in Washington County, Kentucky. He married MARY MANNING November 4, 1781 in St. Mary's County, MD, daughter of CORNELIUS MANNING and JANE GREENWELL. She was born Abt. 1760.

Ignatius Mills "took the oath of allegiance before the Hon. Richard Barnes in St. Mary's County in 1778" The source for that is the page 1146 of the "Revolutionary War Military Collection", manuscript MS.1146 from the Baltimore Historical Society and page 69 of the "9000 men who took the oath of Allegiance and Fidelity to Maryland During the Revolution" by Bettie Carothers.

In the Name of God Amen. I Ignatius Mills of Washington County and State of Kentucky being sick and weak in body, But of sound mind and memory Thanks be given unto God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my Body and Calling to mind the mortality of my Body and Knowing it is appointed for all
men once to die, do make constitute and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows To wit Item 1st I recommend my Soul unto the hands of God who give it me and my Body
unto the dust from which it was taken, to be intered in a Christian Like Manner and for all my Just Debts to be paid.
Item 2nd I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Mary Mills all my Estate both real personal and mixed during Her life except what will be hereafter specified and at the Death of my Beloved Wife Mary Mills I will and bequeath all the Land I may die seized and possessed of unto my Six sons~~ Namely James Mills, Stephen Mills, Cornelius Mills Martin Mills Levy (Leoy?) Mills and Thomas Mills to be equally divided amongst them.
Item 3rd I will and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Allarisa Mills now Allarisa Fenwick after the death of my beloved Wife Mary Mills my Negro Girl Maria and her Increase from the date of this Will to her and her heirs forever.
Item 4th I will and bequeath after the death of my beloved Wife Mary Mills unto my beloved Daughter Ann Mills my Negro Girl Monica and her increase forever

Item 6th It is my will and desire that my three Negroes Henry, Dick and Joseph after the death of my beloved Wife Mary Mills together with all the rest of my Estate which is not specified in this Will shall be equally divided amongst all my children.
