      Joanna Lee Hayden, 81, passed away Sunday March 23, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital after a brief illness. She was born September 12, 1932 Evansville to the late Herschel and Dorothy (Effinger) Nelson.
      Joanna graduated from Central High School in 1950 and retired as a secretary from North High School in 1993. Joanna enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her family and friends. She was a member of Germania Maennerchor, River Bend Assoc. and VFW Post 1114 Auxiliary.
      Joanna was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jack Nelson who died February 19, 2014.
      She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald Hayden; sister, Shirley Kohlmeyer (Clenneth); brothers, Robert Nelson (Dorothy), William Nelson (Darlene) and James Nelson (Kathleen); sister-in-law Carol Nelson and many nieces and nephews.
      Visitation will be from 2:00 - 7:00 pm Wednesday March 26, 2014 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710.
      Funeral service will be at 10:30 am Thursday March 27, 2014 at the funeral home.
      Private burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
