Notes - Rev. James Rual Chalk, 100 years old, of Morris Chapel, went to meet his Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2006. Rev. Chalk was a active supporter and member of the Morris Chapel Community for over 60 years. He was born in Henderson County, Tennessee on January 8, 1906, son of the late John P. and Mary Julia (Mamie) Chalk. Rev. Chalk was preceded in death by his first wife, Vida Kennedy Chalk; his second wife, Lois Grisham Turner Chalk; and a sister Irene Howard. In addition to his wife Evelyn Johnson Chalk, he is survived by two daughters, Nell Harrison (Glenn) of Nashville and Diane Weaver (Buster) of Crump; and one brother, Bonnie chalk (Addie) of Lexington, Tennessee. Rev. Chalk is also survived by four grandchildren, Tom Harrison of Dallas, Texas, James (Frannie) Weaver of Nashville, Tennessee, Jana (Todd) Bess and Ann (Clifton) Bowlds of Antioch, Tennessee; two stepchildren, Rosa Provencia and Patricia Funk; and eight great-grandchildren. Rev. Chalk owned and operated a general merchandise store in Morris Chapel for many years, was employed by the Hardin County Board of Education for 23 years as it's maintenance supervisor, worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority and for over 50 years was ordained into the gospel ministry with the United Pentecostal Church. He served the Milledgeville United Pentecostal Church for many years. He also served as pastor at Sardis, Lexington and Morris Chapel Pentecostal Churches. Rev. Chalk also served on the Harding County School Board. Rev. Chalk and wife, Lois, now deceased, hosted a television program, "J.R. and Lois Chalk's Happy Gospel Hour" on Channel 18 for several years. Visitation with family is Thursday, May 11, 2006, from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. at Shackelford Funeral Home, Savannah, Tennessee. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 12, 2006, at House of Mercy in Morris Chapel with Rev. Mike Moore, Pastor Dennis Moffett and John Allen Chalk (Dallas, Texas) officiating. Burial will be at the Morris Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers to serve will be Todd Bess, Clifton Bowlds, Larry Baker, Tom Harrison, James Weaver and Ferrell Faulkner. Honorary pallbearers to serve are Gene Hanna, William Duke, Claude Grisham, Tommy Grisham, Harold Conaway and Paul Chessor. ---- Social Security Death Index Record Name: James R.
