Mrs. Mary Mattingly Rinehart, 88, of Lebanon, formerly of St. Mary, died at 8:50 a.m., Feb. 7, 1987, at Cedars of Lebanon Nursing Home. A daughter of the late William Lawrence and Arlivia Morris Smith, she was a native of Marion County, a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Legion of Mary. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Edward Mattingly; her second husband, Palmer Rinehart; three sons, Harold, Pat and William Lawrence Mattingly. She was a retired lunchroom worker at St. Mary's College and St. Charles High School. Survivors include one son, Joe Mattingly of St. Mary; three daughters, Mrs. Neil (Alice) Roberts and Mrs. Jimmy (Joan) Dyke, both of Lebanon, and Mrs. Leon (Louise) Thomas of Louisville; two sisters, Mrs. Eliza McCauley and Mrs. Clay (Millie Ann) Johnson, both of Louisville; 37 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, and several great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Feb. 10, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Ivo Cecil and Rev. Ernie Schumacher officiated. Active pallbearers were Neil Roberts, Jr., Joe Thomas, David, Larry, Kevin and Marion Mattingly. Honorary pallbearers were Allen Smith, Joe Denny Roberts, Mark Spalding, Joseph and William K. Mattingly and Brian Roberts. Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of the arrangements.
