    • Thomas C. Smith (c1798-bef. 1836) was the son of Samuel Smith and Elizabeth Bending. He married Louisa Dant (c1801-c1836), daughter of Joseph B. Dant and Elizabeth "Belinda" Shircliffe.

      Parents Thomas C. and Lousia died young (bef 1836), and a guardian bond for their three children was given by Thomas's brother, John B. Smith and his wife Elizabeth, the sister of Louisa Dant, in 1836: "John B. Smith as guardian to Thomas Smith's heirs" (Joseph Silvester, Isabelle and T.J. Smith).

      Their children:
      Joseph Silvester (1825-1875) m. Laura Jane Kidwell in 1854, recorded in Larue County. Buried at Holy Cross.
      Thomas Jefferson "T.J." Smith (1829-1876) m. Mary Jane Clark (who m. second, in 1878, Francis Kendrick Beaven). He is buried at Holy Cross.
      Isabelle born 1825-1834. She may be the Isabelle who m. John "Jack" Phillips in Marion County, November 1852, migrating to St. Paul, KS, and both buried there. Unproved as yet. Only hint is her marriage record: "John Phillips, 21, [father] Green Phillips New Market, married Isabella Smith, 24, born at Joseph Dants, Marion County, 7 Nov 1852." Her mother is Louisa Dant, whose father is Joseph Dant of Marion County.
