Dorothy Gerard, 96, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center.
Dorothy was a graduate of St. Mary's nursing school. She was a former member of Holy Redeemer, where she was on the Board of Education and a member of the choir. Dorothy was currently a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She volunteered at Holy Redeemer, and Poor Clare Monastery assisting the nuns. Dorothy retired from nursing after working at St. Mary's, in private practice, Hoffman Construction, Republic and Servel. She was a member of the Home Extension Club, and loved cooking, playing cards, and her beloved dachshunds, especially Hans.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence in 1986, who was a former City Councilman; brothers, Orel Willett and Robert Willett, CSC.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Stephen Gerard and wife, Cathy and John Gerard, all of Evansville; grandchildren, Matthew Gerard (Kelly), Joseph Gerard, William Gerard and Rebecca Lannan (Shawn); and great-granddaughter, Ember Lannan.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2012, at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710, with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday, February 14, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 704 N. First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 704 N. 1st Ave., Evansville, IN 47710, or Evansville Civic Theater, 717 N. Fulton Ave., Evansville, IN 47710.
