Sardis, Gollen Flatt Stanfill, age 83, died Thursday at Jackson Madison County General Hospital from the result of a stroke. Services will be at 21 pm today at Sardis Church of Christ with Claude E. Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Sardis Cemetery. Mrs. Stanfill was a School teacher until her marriage to the late Riley F. Stanfill who preceded her in death on August 11, 1993. She was a book keeper for Stanfill Roofing Company, a business which she and Riley started in 1954. Mrs Stanfill was a graduate of Scotts Hill School and attended Freed-Hardeman College. She was a member of the Sardis Church of Christ, also a member of the Sardis Senior Citizens, having served on the Board of Directors, and a member of FCE. Mrs Stanfill was the daughter of the late Ollie and Flora Creasy Flatt. She leaves a beloved son, J. Wayne Stanfill and wife Gail Presley Stanfill, and a grandson Chadwick Wayne Stanfill, all of Scotts Hill; a sister, Opal Eason of Jackson, and a brother J.B. Duck of Jackson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Flatt, and a sister, Helen Sheppard. The family will receive friends today from 8 am until 9:30 am. She will lie in state at Sardis Church of Christ until time of services. Casket bearers to serve are Joe Ross, Eddie Goff, J.W. Creasy, Jeff Creasey, Dewayne Jones and Danny Sanderson.
