This week we are highlighting The National Archives – UK, the official archive and publisher for the UK Government, and for England and Wales. From their website: “We are the guardians of over 1,000 years of iconic national documents.”
Learn how to find and use military records, wills, the census and a wide range of other records to trace your ancestors. 191 Research guides are available.
During the pandemic many of their digital records have been made available for download with the normal fee waived. In looking at their Family History Research Guides, I explored a collection of Wills (1348-1858), including 266 for Gough’s and 89 for Goff. Among these was the Will of Reverend Thomas Gough, Clerk of Risby , Suffolk, dated 3 Feb 1786. I was able to register for a free account and download a multi-page image of the will free of charge.
